It was a mixtape. It had no singles, no promotion, he dropped it on iTunes, then that was the end. It was just to get out of a contract.
It went Platinum with no airplay, no singles, no music videos, no promotion. He and every other rapper except Eminem has always been mostly local to US / Canada / UK / Australia, so yeah, obviously it's not doing anything special WW.
But Platinum with an album that had no singles, no promotion, and basically 0 airplay is great. Especially considering only 1 other album has sold Platinum in 2015, and it was an album released last year.
