Let's start with something positive from Genetic Fail: "Thank god I found this song enjoyable because it was everywhere when it was released! The three ladies definitely brought their A-games in this fantasy collab and it paid off big time because they produced one hell of a banger!". Subomie thinks that " Everything Jessie J touches turns to trash, like her career, my average for this album etc." while Artemisia thinks that "Max didn't even try on this". At least this song doesn't have any Break Free lyrical moments. Drowned_World gives the song no marks and wants it to "Bang Bang into oblivion". jacklovesyou1 is no more impressed calling the Jessie J lead banger "overrated lady marmalade wannabe trash" Ari Auris scores this a 1 and thanks that "the only redeemable part of this song is Nicki's rap. Jessie's vocals are a mess, Ariana's feature is uninspiring, and the production is akin to the Wall of Sound production in the previous " Superpower is also impressed by Nicki, without it, he would have scored this a 1. Kang. is a little more positive calling it "one of the best pop hits of last year" but admits it's "nothing coming off of the tour de force that was the standard edition of that album" Last but by no means least, conatus admits her sabotage: "It still bops but let me drag it because I don't want it doing too well, hihi.". But of course, with every Bang Bang comment comes the lashings: "Also, the chorus is stupid and Nicki's verse reeks of wasted potential."
I really adore the smoky, drugged-out atmosphere of the song. The production is to die for. I genuinely don't understand how y'all don't enjoy it. It's literally my most played Lana song.
I already mentioned how Sucker is the biggest decline in quality for an artist ever, and I don't see anyway that Ariana could have appeal when she's the definition of "watered-down".
