She's probably going to Del Rey this era up, as in, she doesn't really care if she has hits, because

I kind of liked the movie "A Series of Unfortunate Events." One of the last movies Jim Carrey did before he became trash.
What will the series be like? Every episode features the bad guy trying to kill the kids in a new way?

If that's the case, that seems like it will get old real fast (like Justin Timberlake).

I am, the movie was so anticlimactic and it referenced things that weren't supposed to be brought up until the end of the series (Olaf burned down their mansion, etc.). The movie also ended at Wide Window, so I was kinda bummed about that. Hope the series has an ep for each book, or more, because it's great!

Yes, the book series got a little convoluted towards the end but I love how creepy it all is.

The book series is very clever, very clever, and quite well-written for what is supposed to be a children's series. The movie got the main storyline right but the tone was all off. Count Olaf is terrifying. Jim Carrey was anything but (though he did quite a good job IMHO) and the three children are on the run from him. It gets quite gruesome.
