Tinashe is like a wannabe mini Beyoncé-Aaliyah hybrid. This is not a good thing. The problem with Tinashe is that she comes off waaaaaay too try hard, in both her image, and in her dance, especially in that video. Nothing seems natural about her. While she's out there poppin' and whippin', ironically, she comes off very bland. There was an ease with Aaliyah. There was an edge with Ciara. Tinashe's choreography has zero personality and is extremely outdated. She just doesn't have the IT factor and that's why no one cares about her and why she hasn't connected with the gerneral public. (Her music sucks, too, but that's the least of her problems.)

I don't think she necessarily comes off as "try hard" in her image, at least from what I've seen but I will say that she needs polishing. She has the potential but there is something lacking, she doesnt have the "it" factor, something that makes her distinct.
She is extremely talented but someone needs to help her with her image. She needs an image overhaul. If she can create a distinct look and combine it with great music & vocals, then she can definitely get bigger & be more noticed in the midst of all these girls.
