I read this whole long article about the appropriation of Asian cultures last night and I'm like "oh ****...that's bad"
But watching Madonna's performance of "Like a Prayer" on the Blonde Ambition Tour really put it into perspective. She goes straight from simulating masturbation on a bed on stage, and to throwing on a priest's robe and a huge crucifix necklace and dancing around in them all seductive and whatnot. Then she has this huge cross hanging over the stage. All the dancers pretending to be catching the Holy Spirit. She basically took Catholicism and Catholic imagery and used them (a lot of important symbols that represent the God I worship) as PROPS! She wasn't like...you know...doing that to show reverence to Christ or anything, she was just doing that to look edgy and cool.
That **** was offensive! I mean, Madonna was raised Catholic herself, and the Catholic church (maybe not now, but historically) is Top 5 most oppressive institutions ever, so it's not technically what you would call 'cultural appropriation'. But regardless, now I know how Hindus feel when Westerners snatch sacred images, symbols, and accessories of theirs and just SLAP them on themselves to be 'different'.
That, and now every thread is about a random nobody in Anywhere, USA making a comment. Loke who cares what Random Person #5 thinks? Plus talking about racism all the time, doesn't really accomplish anything.
Yea Xtina, loves her some filler. B2B was bottom heavy with it.
It's so tiring to have to discuss racism day-in and day-out but we can't just ignore what's going on here in the U.S. Along the same lines, how do you think we can move past racism?

Wow.
Madonna is nothing if not polarizing and controversial.

I think trying to change people's hearts and minds is a losing battle. I think the institutional racism is what we need to focus on through community power. Once we are on the same economic and political level as other races, the stereotypes won't apply anymore.

Do you really think it's possible? Do you think all races can be on the same economic and political level? When you think about, it's mostly white and Asian folks that are in good economic and political (not so much Asian in this front) than blacks, Hispanics, etc.

“This makes me ANGRY! This officer should not have had to resign.
“I’m going to just go ahead and say it….the blacks are the ones causing the problems and this ‘racial tension. "I guess that’s what happens when you flunk out of school and have no education. I’m sure their parents are just as guilty for not knowing what their kids were doing; or knew it and didn’t care.”
“I’m almost to the point of wanting them all segregated on one side of town so they can hurt each other and leave the innocent people alone. Maybe the 50s and 60s were really on to something. Now, let the bashing of my true and honest opinion begin….GO! #imnotracist #imsickofthemcausingtrouble #itwasagatedcommunity”
The only way we'll get past racism is by the majority of society being educated & recognizing racism isn't dead.
Even then I doubt you'll get past it. Judging by some of these ATRLers whites are not as oblivious to racism as you may think. They seem to know about racism when a white person is the victim but it is dismissed whenever it's a POC. Meaning a lot them are actually psychopaths and actually enjoy watching y'all suffer. You'd expect the younger generation of GAYS to be more empathetic but I guess not.
I would stop waiting for whites to change if I were you. Even white liberals of the Democrat party who "recognise racism" have no genuine interest to change the status quo, and why would they? They all benefit. It's a bit unrealistic tbh
I think AB is on the ball with self segregation. Why do you think whites love to praise MLK up and down despite all the power he has taken from them. The integration rhetoric is a trojan horse. Think people!

Maybe not equal, but if close enough so the we can rid ourselves of the "lazy, stupid, EBT sponges" bs. Plus we can start hiring each other, and other things that would stamp out institutional racism.
Edit: This was a response to MCBeth's comment, I got confused by the avi
Have yall ever went to the doctors and during the process of asking you what's wrong, they asked if you were sexually active and you answered no... then the nurse looked at you side-eyeing?

I almost had to smack that bitch. Don't judge me.
Yeah I told her no, cause I didn't need her asking 10 million questions about the semen I've swallowed & the dick I've taken.
How can we go about getting rid of institutionalized racism tho?
You can't. White people run the country and the power remains centralised among the elite like one big illuminati family. And whilst you can change popular opinion, you can make can make yts more empathetic and socially aware, it's not like any of these SJWs are ever rising to power to make moves anyway. Ofc there is a flip side to this. The more liberal and empathetic to blacks whites become the harder it will be for the white elite to oppress, like starting another Tulsa riots. Which is why I say blacks have so much more potential to exploit circumstances, you have white people throwing money at the likes of Kanye but the money doesn't go back to the black community like that. In general there is a culture of blacks giving their money to whites, whether it be for Jordans or moving into a white neighbourhood/marrying into a white family as soon as they get coin
Are you annoyed at the SJWs or the ones that refuse to see racism anywhere?
i think it goes both ways.
the stupid privileged white gays who suddenly see no prejudice in america when they themselves are #1 on america's hitlist
AND on the flipside,
the SJW's who read an Azalea Banks tweet or two and then front dumb, half baked ideas like "blacks forming their own independent country/secession" or "going back to Africa" as a solution for racism.

i agree with this
i mean, look at Asians. White people do not like them either but they have so much wealth/education within their community that they're impossible to ignore.
and to some extent, Jewish people too.
What the hell is a SJW once and for all, that word is used loosely and the definition is always different.
I've seen what I thought was SJWs calling others SJWs. Like that dallas bbq event mess. How are gays on this black mans social media calling him the n-word, accusing him for a hate-crime and whatnot then wanna call black gays sjws for defending the black guy... who then latter turned out to be gay as well, in which his race was no longer in the equation because it was two gays fighting.

You got any ideas wise guy!
echem, I'm very well aware that y'all can't just move back to the motherland, it too complicated and tbh unless you're bringing something they wouldn't want you anyway. As for the concept of seceding or having ones own independent country, it's not even meant in a literally sense. Tulsa Oklahoma is an example of that. Practically was independent tho. That should be the goal Also it's not supposed to be a "solution for racism", it's supposed to be a strategy to help blacks thrive.
But if you have any better ideas, I'm all ears
Everyone is putting down the theory while offering no alternatives
Yeah that whole "We have to go back to Africa" mess never really was thought out that much.
Did Marcus Garvey even step foot in Africa?
I know that was one of his criticisms while pushing the "go back to Africa" stuff
Plus we tried that with Liberia and we must never speak of that.
