I don't expect another love/break-up songs.
I think it's gonna be:
1. some empowerment anthem as a **** you message to haters and body shamers, or
2. something about life in general or, as alrightsir said, some social commentary

Speaking about party anthems, HCTW was awful.
GTPS remains one her best songs in general and it'll stay her big signature party anthem.
---------------------------------
I was thinking yesterday how some songs from roseave. would sound with different arrangement and production.

Urgh HCTW is awful and it's on par with WoS.
GTPS might be her forever signature hit but Bad Influence is her best party song. And it's funny to see that it's the same electro-pop as TTAL, yet it's so much better in quality.

oh absolutely. nothing can touch GTPS in the party department. it's so different and just oozes coolness.
lol i am glad kurstin didn't touch any of rose ave. just the evidence we got from try original to try cover shows that he can easily ruin the meaning of a song's musical stamp.

lol i was hoping for an attitude anthem like trouble. but i have a feeling it'll be something social, but then again RCA might want to be super-duper careful and let's her release a love-hate/breakup song to be on the very safe side. i hope she has more of a say now that she complained about which songs are put out as singles in that you+me interview.

Something like Trouble would be great. But for now, I want her to stay away from social commentary and even empowerment songs. There's a thin but fine line between being inspirational and pleasantly outspoken; and coming off as bitter, whiny, self-righteous, condescending etc. It would be kinda overkill especially after all the attention her tweets and subsequent interview got. Don't want her to step into Demi Lovato territory.
I need a cool, upbeat, high-energy, feel-good song. She needs to realize that not every song has to be "d33p aNd me@n!ngfuL!!111" GTPS pliissssssssss.

The instrumental of Try is pretty genius tho. It's actually better without the vocals.

i want a gospel funk synth pop infused attitude anthem that from the content is more in the lines of 18 wheeler, trouble or humble neighborhoods!

it's a good instrumental, far from genius IMO, rather on the run-of-the-mill side. and yes, the vocals are not helping. they had amazing source material and instead of improving it, or at least keep its mood, they made it sound like, well, something uninspired.
IMO.
try video > try original > try cover.
IMO.

Gosped funk synth infused??? That's a whole lot to ask!
I think we might get that if Max & Shellback or MachoPsycho produce it! You know Kurstin would ruin it.

hey! it's possible!! and a guy can dream
yeah. i'm afraid you might be right with the second part. i'd rather have her open with a billy mann track if she goes back to the usual suspects cause stupid girls was and still is damn fresh and different musically if you look at the pop landscape. raggae inflections over opera samples?! come on! that was genius!

He had a pretty amazing source material, that's for sure but since I have some hidden love for ambient electro synth/post/rock it really hit the right spots. Of course it's not absolutely like that, but it has some resemblance, especially in the chorus. You can get lost with it when you're listening through great headphones at night.
gospel funk synth pop infused this would be so good also! just a song which everyone wants to get up and dance!

i don't know what they are called, but i liked the siren-like howls in the chorus and the little keyboard notes before and after. but i don't understand why he thinks it's cool to feed in white noise into the productions :/ it just ruins everything.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about! It's the best part, it's like the wind blowing at a foggy midnight.
And I don't really recognize that much of a white noise, it's pretty clear for me. It's the vocal layers which kinda mess up the whole production.

yeah, i was talking generally about greg kurstin's pink productions. in the try instrumental it's during the chorus over those howls. without it, the instrumental would have been much clearer and much more poignant IMO. i don't know if it's one too many guitars, but it's a problem with kurstin's productions in general.
EDIT: and yes, i have to correct myself: try video > try original > try cover instrumental > try cover.

Oh yes! I'm still mad at her for giving I Walk Alone away! That banjo is so fresh and happy! Also, the lyrics are basically her autobiography, so I still don't get why she got rid of it.

so true. it's weird that wos made the cut and 2039823409 other songs on all those (too many) editions, but this track didn't :/
overall, i need another folktronic track! dear diary touched me on such a deep level, even to this day, and its moody country-ish production was a big part of it. that song is an example where everything worked perfectly together for me: music-lyrics-voice!
