If you really think "Taylor Swift is the least talented pop star after Rihanna."
Also, the idea that she's just some beneficiary of "the" stalwart country-buying fanbase is misleading. There is no country artist who has even remotely seen the same magnitude or consistency of returns as her in the last ten years. Carrie Underwood has seen 20-50% declines in US album sales with each album. So has Jason Aldean. So has Lady Antebellum. So has Blake Shelton. Luke Bryan is the only one that comes to mind as a recent force in country music showing massive and consistent album sales numbers, and that's only been for his past two albums.
I think the reality of Taylor Swift is just difficult for people to swallow: that a young girl grew up writing music that genuinely connects with other people at a large scale. It's
obvious that it does. It's
easy to pick out a Taylor Swift song from the crowd. You don't have to think writing her songs takes skill, but if you're really sitting here baffled by why she's so successful, I mean, pay some attention.
