If IKaG came out first, how is it possible to have Born This Way reach the milestone after? Like I'm trying to understand how that makes sense, and it would if Born This Way was released before IKaG, but yeah I'm not seeing how this makes sense.

Prior to that, there was only a "Best Sellers" chart, which ran 1940 - 1958.

The first rock song to top the Best Sellers chart was Rock Around the Clock in 1955, which is the unofficial "Rock Era" they are referring to.
