Mother’ which is filled with descriptions (“Mother / Make me / A bird of prey / So I can fly over all of this”) which are delivered with pure anger and we’re never quite sure are intended as compliments or insults.

The only issue with How Big How Blue How Beautiful is that while The Machine ain’t broke, Florence has no desire to fix it… nor to update it. Most of the tracks on here would’ve easily slotted on to Lungs or Ceremonials, such is the lack of progress since Welch exploded into our lives.

The songs on this album would not fit on the previous albums. There is a lot more rock influence on this album. Each album has had it's own sound.

Music critics are the worst and the reason why I rarely pay attention to them. For people who are supposed to be professional critics, they don't study what they review, enough.

ya if any of these songs were put on ceremonials it would totally throw it off

i can see a few being put on lungs and working, but they are by no means completely interchangeable

each album has had a very distinct sound, it annoys me so much when critics say this
