Yeah kinda weird they completely abandoned Rick/Brandon's storyline (not that I'm complaining)

Brandon's storyline is Ok. They didn't abandoned him. The fact is he is over this season because his complete storyline is made (according with the books).
But I swear I'll never forgive this show for abandoned the Rickon and White Harbor's storyline. After they abandoned Lady Cat (or Lady Stone Heart); I hoped they would make all the White Port's storyline. It's by far more interesting than the boring Dorne's storyline.
I mean, the secret complot of all the little northern houses against the Boltons, the amount of murders against the Freys, the plan for get back King Rickon and name him the New King of the north, the Manderlys joining to the wedding between Ramsay and Fake Arya...The North Remembers

It's alright, no hard feelings. Some people argue that those things you mentioned will happen later in the show than in the books.

they've said multiple times that the show and books will end the same way but the show might take a different, more streamlined route to that end

Do you even watch the show ? the timeline is a complete mess
Benioff & Weiss gives no **** about the timeline, because it's something that is not adaptable on screen, all that matters is continuity and flow

So no the storylines you're talking about are not cut, they could come back later because the timeline doesn't matter since it's not distinguishable on tv, it's invisible unlike the books
The storyline from the books 100% sure cut are the storylines involving new characters (and maybe secondary characters we barely saw in the show before)

Storyline involving characters as important as Catelyn , Osha/Rickon or Yara Greyjoy and others (Gendry, Sandor, the Tullys) will comeback in season 6/7.

Because after this season 5, Benioff and Weiss are gonna be done with AFFC/ADWD and there will be no books to do season 6/7, they're gonna write new storylines and that's when they'll add the stuff they postponed.
