She didn't enjoy a lot of the things that came with being a celebrity present in the public eye so she pretty much became a recluse. That's why she didn't release an album for twelve years, and then again for six. She didn't tour for over thirty years because she doesn't like how unpredictable live performance can be sometimes.

So, with no need to really maintain a public image...

It is so hard stanning for her sometimes.
