I haven't been going to the gym since like.. end of January/beginning of February, and I just checked my BMI, and I'm in the 24 range (24.2, to be exact) Right now, I'm 5 ft. 9, and I weight 164 pounds. During January/February, my weight would fluctuate between 140-155 pounds. My goal is to be 140 - 145 pounds by the beginning of October, which is in 145 days. Anyone have any workout plans for me to reach my goal? I prefer free weights over machines, and I'd rather do cardio exercises (running, biking, jogging, etc.,) than machine exercises. Also, can anyone share with me healthy meal plans, that don't include pork? Lastly, I'm getting jaw surgery this year (sometime this year, but DEFINITELY before October 1st) to fix my Class III underbite, and people say that you lose a lot of weight after the surgery (because you're on bed rest for 2-3 weeks after the surgery), but you'll gain the weight again within a couple of weeks/months. Is this true? Thank you for your time.

I FINALLY worked out again last night.
Did the filthy 50 workout and it KILLED me.
The Men's Fitness article that exposed me to this workout said it take 25 minutes. It took me like 50 to finish everything

HIIT is always the best to lose extra fat. So in a 30 minute running cardio session, sprint for 1 minute and then walk 30 sec and repeat.
Free weights are always better than machines, and since you're not bulking I would suggest total body workouts.
I also always cook my meals a week in advance. They usually consist of some kind of baked chicken, brown rice, and vegetables. You can do a lot with that though, between something like General Tso's Chinese chicken, to fajita's with tons of bell peppers, jalapeños, and onions.

Why have I never notice this fitness thread..
So I have a dilemma guys, I’ve been strict working out for a month now going 6/7 days a week to the gym, I had a friend who was previously a trainer, give me workout tips and I’ve lowered the amount of fatty foods I intake, (i.e I have a soda maybe once a week, and barely eat any fast foods) I’ve also been increasing protein food intake in addition to accompanying every workout with a protein shake, but I haven’t seen as much gain as I’d expect. and people say you see most of your muscle gain in the starting weeks, is there something I’m missing?

are you making sure your giving your muscles enough time to repair? muscle growth comes during periods of rest & if you constantly work the same muscles it hinders your progress

Try jogging or just walking for 3 miles a day just to raise your metabolism and avoid white flour and all kinds of junk food. Try eating 500 calories less per day than what you usually eat that will guarantee weight loss.

Gosh I'm so sore
I started doing Crossfit's WOD at my gym since they have a crossfit room open 24/7 and when I lift I feel strange since I'm so small compared to the crazy men at Golds.
I worked out Tues & Wed, took yesterday off due to how sore I was, and plan on going back today if I don't spend a few hours kayaking like I did Monday.
Anyone experienced with supplements other than protein, creatine, and pre-workouts? That's the only place I'm really confused now on my workouts.

Is there a place you can do it yourself and not in a class?
I've done classes before and they are great a tailoring to each individual. And most introductory Crossfit classes are done just in intervals - i.e. you do one exercise for one minute, rest 30 sec as you move to the next exercise, repeat. So if you can bust out 60 push ups in a minute, but can do a healthy 15/20 in that time, you're good.
But if you have the opportunity to do it without a class, that's good as well. I like to workout myself and since I have access to a Crossfit-esque gym, I can do workouts for time instead of just intervals. My time is like 15 minutes slower than most, but since I'm by myself, nobody knows.

A coworker invited me to his crossfit classes. I told him I need to go back to the gym first and get back into shape before I go hardcore. I mean I'm just afraid of doing crossfit in front of a bunch of other really ripped dudes. I feel insignificant and puny. That and crossfit seems very grueling and seems like you need to eat a lot of food (I'm poor and cant afford it....)

I haven't been to the gym in 2 weeks. I'm in a different city for an internship for the Summer and I haven't gotten a membership. I refuse to lose all of the gains I've made since Janurary.
I have a love hate relationship with HIIT. You can mix it up and do so much, but I feel like I've accomplished little after only going for a little amount of time as compared to hitting the elliptical for an hour but I'm sweating like crazy afterwards so I know my Afterburn is kicking in. Eliptical HIIT and 4 corners HIIT (run, stop, reps, and repeat) are my favorite Cardio routines. I really wanna try crossfit within the next few months.
As for powders and supplements, I stopped taking creatine because of the water weight I was putting on; I just didn't find it worth it. Although I've slowed down, I do stack Quadralean (RSP) and JYM shred. I also take Vita JYM. I've learned to take the pills at a certain time of the day and they give me so much clean energy.

I'm gonna start back on creatine. True the water weight may slow me down, but the water weight looks good in some places (arms).
