I still haven't made my mind up about the album.
To me, it is definitely her least accesible album to date along with Medulla.It's so heavy and atmospheric to the point where I find it somewhat overwhleming. Ironically though, my favorite from the album is Black Lake which is actually the heaviest song on the record imo
I actually love Volta a lot. I'd place it in her Top 5 for sure of her solo releases.
Earth Intruders,Declare Independence and Wanderlust are some of her best songs imo.
Speaking of which I hope her next album will be more upbeat with her last two albums being the complete opposite but who knows what she'll do.
And yes Unravel is brilliant as well.So simple lyrically yet so powerful.
