Kelly Clarkson has turned a work trip into a family holiday Down Under.
The Grammy Award-winning American singer is in town for a one-off show at The Star Event Centre on Friday and to promote her latest album, Piece By Piece.
But it’s also provided an opportunity to bring husband Brandon Blackstock and 11-month-old daughter River for their first trip to Australia.
“It is like doing it for the first time again,” she said of checking out the tourist sights, including a stop at Symbio Wildlife Park in Helensburgh.
“My daughter was so excited — she loved it.”
Life has changed completely for Clarkson since her first visit to Australia 13 years ago.
Not only is she married with children (her daughter plus two stepkids) but she’s got seven albums under her belt, amassing sales of more than 20 million copies worldwide:
“I’ve done a complete 180. I am just a different person. I am the same carefree, nonchalant fun person but my priorities are different.”
Clarkson is in the country for just a week but is planning a full national tour for later in the year.
She’s also keen to have another child but has to wait for the tour to wrap.
“I would be pregnant right now if I could,” she said.
“I want them to be close in age but I want to tour. I have a whole calendar to keep up. I’m like, ‘If I weren’t going on tour now, I could fall pregnant right now because I am ovulating’.”
