Yep, they're allowed. But it's important to note out that noone gains or loses any points for including an explanation. I just want all the contestants to submit their entry in a way that makes them comfortable, so if they want to include a cover, an explanation, an instrumental, a recording of the song, background info etc, I'll happily forward it to the judges (and I'll read or hear it myself), but no extra points are given.

Yeah, my concern is getting a view sympathy points tbh. It happens on singing talent shows all the time. I know the judges will always try to judge without any bias, but if someone submits a song along with a message that's really personal and sad, I can see a judge being less hard on them because y'all are human and will have sympathy for the person and not want to give them a low score on top of their person problems. So I just don't want anyone to have an unfair advantage that way
