60M is too high I agree but 50M is a very realistic figure, if she's not already there she must be close. Her spanish album sales are not accurate especially for PD and DELL of which they have no real source to back up their numbers, that's is why they had to edit the figure for DELL after checking some reciepts, I mean how reliable can they be when they **** up so easily, like wtf...

mediatraffic don't just ignore countries
they make estimates for them and add them in to get WW totals occasionally their off by a bit like with GHMP but normally they're spot on
Anyways this is more than any pop girl who debuted this century like rih, bey, katy, taylor, gaga, avril
so its still very impressive its just amusing that whilst we all thought the hive and monsters inflated their spot on whereas the shakira stans almost doubled her album sales

Her first two albums are all wrong
Pies Descalzos sold at least 3.5m, if not more, it sold 1m in Colombia alone, 500k in the US, and was huge all over Latin America and in that time albums could sell millions there.
I'm not going to let one German and his dodgy ****ing website erase those albums and what they meant and how successful they were. **** no.

You will NOT erase her legacy like this, you will NOT spread lies. You will NOT deny how impactful and important those first two albums were. 6.5m copies combined my ASS!

They changed the totals for her first two albums which puts her at 36.5 million in total.

See what I mean? They keep changing the totals, making mistakes...the fact that people take this site so seriously
And both of them selling the same is ****ing ridiculous, to anyone who was living in Latin America at the time that's like saying that Rated R and Loud were equivalent eras Donde Estan Los Ladrones? was a bigger album and has sold at LEAST 1m more copies, probably more.

You're going nowhere with insults. Give us receipts to prove MediaTraffic wrong. The last time someone posted Shakira album stats in this thread, it turned out her MediaTraffic numbers are low key inflated.

But yeah... I never believed she sold anything close to 50 million. Judging by those numbers, she's probably at 38 million or something.

It's interesting how some of the gerls use to swear by Mediatraffic data, until the recent posting of updated album sales of their faves. Suddenly it's not trustworthy.

I think their estimations are pretty accurate and respectable. Other sources have Pies Descalzos at 2.6 million/3 million and Donde Estan Los Ladrones? at 3.5 million. And while they might have underestimated the latter, her other releases seem just fine.
Add another 500K to Donde Estan Los Ladrones? (as it was considerably bigger than Pies Descalzos), as well as her other releases and she should be around 39 million.
Live & Off The Records (2004) - 1 million
Oral Fixation Tour (2007) - 650K
Live From Paris (2011) - 500K
That's a very respectable total.

Okay, those seem like the two that are up for debate. Greasy said they sold 10M combined, that's not unreasonable, I suppose. Assuming that's the case, that's around 3M - 3.5M more than reported by Mediatraffic, which would get to around 40M (and the number I'd stick with). But like, 50? Donde estan Los sales?

This is how it works Mediatraffic, if you didn't know already, directly by MJ Dangerous, easily the most reliable source about global sales. He was even mentioned by Billboard when they tried to estimate "Thriller" sales ( if I remember correctly)
Quote:
You don't understand the system of mediatraffic !
They don't know nothing about real sales, it's not an official site & the guy who do this is not a magician !
Imagine a X album release in 4 countries, mediatraffic estimate their sales like this :
> Country 1 :
The album X hit #1 in USA with sales of 254.000 (Soundscan). >> Position in chart have no utility here !
> Country 2 :
The album X hit #10 in Japan with sales of 20.000 (Oricon). >> Position in chart have no utility here !
+
> Country 3 :
The album X hit #1 in France, sales are unknow. They use a system with proportion between markets :
The album is #1 in USA with sales of 254.000, USA markets equal to 7.24 French market (for example, they use year end total sales by country for have the real proportion), so they estimate sales in France at : 254.000 / 7.24 = 35.083 estimated sales in France.
> Country 4 :
The album X hit #4 in Spain, sales are unknow. They use a system with proportion between markets :
The album which is #4 in USA the same week (they use this system to take in account sales time like poor summer time or high sales in Christmas) sold 136.000 copies, USA markets equal to 16.42 Spanish market (it's a pure example), so they estimate sales in Spain at : 136.000 / 16.42 = 8.283 estimated sales in Spain.
So they estimate sales of the album X at : 254.000 + 20.000 + 35.083 + 8.283 = 317.400 worldwide.
Mediatraffic only do math
