The song is very full of it, but I wouldn't say it's bad production - it's Zedd. There's plenty of songs on his first album that are the same, and plenty of songs that use the same elements, but I wouldn't say that it's "bad" production (as it's well and truly intentional. It would be bad if it was literally just messy mixing, which it's not).

Well I'll be perfectly honest and I'll hope you'll be polite rather than trying to drag me like you did initially. I've been producing for just over a year now, so I'm really new. Producing is sort of "read only" - my ears are getting well-tuned to what's going on (I think you'll agree that compressors/limiters have virtually the same effect after the whole mastering process), but I'm not able to yet recreate the loudness of common releases, and obviously I'm still learning how to make certain synths and sounds. Madeon, for example, is very difficult to recreate... I have only put one remix up in public, but trust me - I'm hard at work, and as I can't sing, most of my written songs are unfinished without a singer:

Sorry for that off topic part. Anyway, this effect has never been so prominent and harsh before. Maybe it is an artistic choice, and maybe it's personal taste, but in my opinion that portion certainly sounds over-compressed within the context of the song. As you say, the last bit is equally loud, but there somehow it seems to fit in?
To me, his previous songs using this type of increasing loudness have always sounded correct, but in this instance it doesn't to me. Maybe your ears are more tolerant, tuned or partial to this method that I seem to dislike.
