What I don't understand are why older pop songs are charting on country and alternative, and not new ones.

I'm sure those are just stations that were accidentally mislabeled as Alternative for a few songs, or just a plain mix-up. If a station was playing those that often it wouldn't be categorized as Alternative anymore.

95 spins is hardly anything. That's probably around 5-6 stations just testing the song out and isn't an indicator of future performance. Also, the odds are stacked against it, being the type of song it is, it will have a hard time being huge.

That said, I like the song and will happily accept it smashing.
