Well they've been tweeting a LOT about new music lately, which considering during the majority of 2013/2014 they were just talking about DJ'ing and their merch store, is kinda a big deal. Apparently they've even collabed with Steve Aoki (they had pics) and wanted an Iggy collab.

I know what you mean. SYG isn't really for everybody.

Considering Luke only had like 7 songs on Animal and lots of her MySpcae demos (not with Dr. Luke) made the album then ya I think that he wasn't as controlling over her before YLIMD blew up and he wanted to make sure she only released those kinds of songs. But that's for another day.

She seemed pretty into it even after the Cannibal era was over (she still loves glitter, Dirty Love video anyone?)

Animal would have been Top 10 if released after TIO, probably a YLIMD sized hit more than a BBB or TIO sized hit. A nice #5, #6 peak or something. GP liked slower songs from pop girls (well besides Thinking of You kii). The Harold Song would have been like #12 or something.
