It's hilarious to read comments on sites such as ONTD versus here, where everyone here tries so hard to be praise-happy, while other sites call it like it is. Probably the age demographic is more mature on ONTD, but people PRAISING this song on here, like, C'mon.

Can't some of you call a spade a spade sometimes, and just admit when a song is truly just abysmal? This song sounds like a B-side demo, and that God awful sound in the background is grating . This era is so far off to a extreme disappointment.

Wait this is beautiful. I really love it. That performance did it no favors at all, but wow. I kind of wish lyrically it went a bit deeper because the perspective is touching -- her journey as this young Black girl that came here from an island with nothing and made it; she's the essence of the "American dream" and being a country of immigrants and the notion that anybody can become anything.

It was lyrically kind of sparse and repetitive -- especially considering the length of the song. My only issue with it tho; it's still beautiful and it feels big. I don't see this really doing much internationally because it has a very localized theme and level of relateability, but if she plays her cards right with this it could be a huge anthem in the US.
