There are so many amazingly talented black artists that ATRL doesn't know or give credit to. From Beyonce to Rihanna maybe you'll credit them, but you'll still put them next to or under a Taylor Swift, Britney Spears or Katy Perry... and maybe you'll applaud a FKA Twigs or Janelle Monae but you'll have Grimes or Kimbra in your sig.
Black artists have always and will forever be the most impactful beings in music and much of art culture.
ATRL showing its true colors though. If you don't think black artists are good in this current generation like many of you are claiming, check out black art blogs like AFROPUNK and Obsidian please. Let's educate ourselves before speaking.
And I'm quite aware that there are many amazingly talented artists of other racial backgrounds, but the evidence that black art is more influential than any other even as the generations continue rolling is too obvious.

So you're suggesting that ATRL and the GP in general don't know much about what you consider true black artists but then go on to say those artists are having a huge influence/impact? Kewt contradiction and self-scalping.

Black artists have always made the best music every generation since 19th century.
And although we obviously don't receive credit for it, Black culture pretty much has shaped popular culture and music for decades now. Even the most popular white artists today have taken their influences from Black music genres and artists.

He was referring to impact on music, which is true. Black artists and music has shaped the musical climate, whether they're in the forefront or behind the scenes. A lot of your major white artist, Madonna for example, has borrowed heavily from black music and art. It's not a contradiction. Just a valid point in which some refuse to acknowledge.

THAT DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE.
Quality = the best. That's what QUALITY MEANS.

oh kids, music is much more complex than " black people invented this, black people invented that...."
even all the greatest jazz musicans from John Coltrane, Monk, Duke Ellington to Hancock had to learn the harmonic theory from classical music of white people.
Miles Davis borrowed the modes from western music scales to create his most signature album " kind of blue "
jazz harmonies first appeared in the work of romantic and impressionistic composers. And those composers built all of their music (as does jazz) on the twelve-key system invented by famous Baroque composer J.S. Bach. What about musical formation , You can find quartets and quintets in both classic and jazz music
there would be something called Ragtime without the march of John Philip Sousa ? i doubt it.
Linn Electronics LM-1 Drum Computer, Yamaha DX7 Synthesizer, Roland D-50 ect ect and other electronic musical instruments that being used by Prince, Stevie wonder, Herbie Hancock to make their signature sound are made by whites and Japaneses
the first DJs were whites, not DJ Kool Herc. Looping technque is the most important musical aspect in modern music era, it's widely used in every music genres nowdays, especially hiphop and that technique is popularized by white electronc musicans such as Karlheinz Stockhausen and Pierre Schaeffer.
the spacy soundscape in the production of today black artists such as Fka Twigs, Drake, Frank Ocean, the weeknd is inspired by ambient music and it's created by whites
i can go on and on

Ugh why was this thread even made? Idc what color an artist's skin is as long as I like their music.
Also, what makes a person of another skin color's music a rip-off or copy or "appropriation" of black music? If that artist grew up listening to black artists and were inspired by them (e.g. Xtina, JoJo) what makes it less genuine than a black musician who was also influenced? Why does skin color even ****ing matter at all? This world is ****ing messed up.
