As of today Rihanna is still stronger in the continental Europe and has to advantage of the immigrants in the suburbs rejecting white people's music.
Katy is stronger in the Anglosphere, the Commonwealth: - Asian countries have more shared cultural heritage with the British than continental Europe and can be counted as Anglo-Saxon because of the economical reality for the average citizen there is based on Anglo-Saxon economics.
- Katy thrives on giving hope to the poor people feeling held back by the system not offering healthcare, university,... for poor people. She still has the crooked teeth as a reminder that she came from a family that couldn't afford a dentist.
- In Chinese society plastic surgery (a very American thing to do) became as important as an education in the labour market, there are so much candidates that they can pick the prettiest one. Katy shows that her flaws didn't stop her from becoming successful.
Life in continental Europe isn't that harsh when the poorest have access to the dentist, healthcare, university,... (and relies much less on dad's wallet to climb up in society) thus Europeans don't relate that much to Katy's story, ideas,...
I voted Rihanna based on current situation and it's more difficult to cross the English Channel between the 2 main cultures in the world. The Anglo-Saxon way of life versus the Rhineland/continental way of life. Especially when you are dealing with 10+ different languages/cultures there.

..But PRISM is pure pop while Una is more urban..Japan is known for stanning (dance) pop which explains why LOUD and GGGB are her best selling albums there..
