Maybe she didn't think it was funny. That could be it too. Not every joke is worthy of a laugh.

I swear some of you apologists can't see the forest for the trees. Racism does not need intent to be racist. When are some of you going to get that? If I stab your foot with my stiletto heel and injure you by mistake, it doesn't matter that I did it accidentally. You're still injured, and I'm still responsible.
Locked hairstyles have their origins and are most common in the black community. Black women are often unfairly scrutinized and stigmatized by the white mainstream for their hair when they wear it in natural, non Euro-centric styles. Enter Zendaya, a bi-racial black woman, wearing locs at an awards show, and like clockwork, a white woman goes in, making stupid jokes, and to add icing on the cake, it's revealed that Rancic has complemented a white girl (Kylie) sporting a similar style in the past. What a coincidence! Rancic may very well not have intended any racist offense, but her offense was racist, none the less, and it warranted an apology.

Ugh
I'm so proud of Zendaya. I didn't know she had it in her. I feel like a proud parent. This is very inspirational.

Maybe she made those comments because the hair looks ****ing terrible on her
But because she's black it has to be racism. Yep definitely racism.
I mean, clearly black people are the only people who dread their hair and smoke weed but what do i know?
FOH im so sick of you people doing the most on this topic still.
Guilana does not need to say another word about the topic.

And as a "fashion expert" she should know hair and locs place in African-American society (and the response to white girls getting locs and seeing it become the hot new summer trend). Her original response is racist.

I see what you mean. I guess she just wanted people to know that it didn't come from a racist place like a lot of people were saying. It was, however, an ignorant/stereotypical thing to say.
I see her making a fuller apology either on E!News or next week's Fashion Police.

I agree with this. Giuliana didn't have any racist intentions when she said it, that wasn't what she meant, but it was an ignorant/stereotypical thing to say that can easily be interpreted as racist. She was right to apologize.
I wish some people in this thread though would just accept her apology instead of dragging her more though, and saying things about her that are a lot worse than what she said.

OF COURSE the white gays of ATRL would completely dismiss and invalidate the feelings of black people just because they don't understand. Typical.
What Giuliana said, especially given the context of having PRAISED Kylie Jenner recently for the same hairstyle, is very racially-charged and offensive. It doesn't matter if she meant it or not, it's just the truth. But I'm glad she apologized and hopefully she learned a lesson.

Of course it had nothing to do with race, I swear there's so much sensitive black people that think every single white person is racist.
People with that type of hairstyle usually has dirty hair, because it's just difficult to wash, hence the comment, nothing more.

????
Or maybe it's difficult for WHITE people to wash their dreads because their hair doesn't naturally loc? Black people can wash and clean their dreads with ease, it's when other people try it that they walk around here with rotting scalps and smelling like sewage. Please.

Sure Guiliana. What's your excuse for using the sentence, "Oh my nappy toes" in reference to Halle Berry at the Oscars the year she won?

Mess. Even if some of you don't believe it's racist, it's offensive. A hairstyle should not lead to stereotypes. A bit funny how she was quicker to praise Kylie Jenner but insult Zendaya.

I hate to be one those people to generalize, but seeing as how the majority of this board appears to be gay, I find it insulting that they would sit here and tell people of color what to be offended at, but the world should stop should someone use a gay slur or say something demeaning towards gay people. You would think, having to go through somewhat similar troubles in today's age and time, that they would be able to sympathize with the stereotypes and unfair disadvantages presented towards minorities.
But like someone said, it's easy to tell someone to not be offended when you don't have to deal with the offense being presented.

So Zendaya went to the Oscars looking like this:
E! fashion police dragged the look and Giuliana Rancic (or w/e) said that she looked like her hair smelled like weed or oil (something like that). And Zendaya was steaming in a note where she thought the comment stemmed from racism and discrimination over an ethnic look.
I'm glad she at least TRIED to apologize, but the comment was definitely racist or has racial undertones... very low.
