Again, WRWWR and Judas are too completely separate sides of the spectrum with Style being on a completely different line. Those were singles preceding an albums release, Style is coming after the release of a quadruple platinum album and is still managing Top 10 on digital songs and is a monster on radio. This song is still peaking. We're not talking about Uncle here, Style is only struggling when compared to smashes like Blank Space and Shake it Off. This is a bonafide hit, period.

I mean. Even a week at number one on its own pretty much certifies the fact that the song's a hit, at least in the pre-streaming era. And it's sold 4 million in the US. The two aren't really comparable.

3 people coming at one person for a harmless mistake is rabid. And I didn't bring it into question, again more proof of rabid being a proper adjective to use in this situation. My contribution to this thread was poorly articulated due to my lack of interest in the subject matter (Style/Taylor Swift), but ultimately all I was trying to say is that the majority of people on ATRL have warped views as to what is considered a flop or not. A song simply going Top 10 at all should be proof enough that it didn't. So everyone needs to back off a little bit and try to comprehend what im saying rather than immediately going on the defense over proper chart placements for the examples I tried to use.

What I am trying to say is that a song peaking at 10 (for more than a week ) isn't bad for Taylor Swift. It is bad for Katy, Rihanna and Gaga but historically judging by how Taylor songs do, you can't say that top 10 is bad for her standards. It's actually pretty good for her.

Do you realize chart positions don't mean nothing at most of the time right? If you consider a platinum song a flop (a.k.a commercial failure.) you are wrong.

In fact any song that charts on the Hot 100 is a hit no matter where they peaked.

Tim McGraw, Teardrops on My Guitar, Our Song, Picture to Burn, Should've Said No, White Horse, Fifteen, Fearless, Back To December, Mean, Sparks Fly, Ours, Begin Again, Red (have I missed any?) -- ALL top 10 country singles. All platinum, and most of them are multi-platinum (coincidentally, I think the Lord might be the only "main girl" to have every official single She has ever released go platinum?).

I know that might be hard for pop-centric ATRL to wrap its collective brain around. But if you asked a major country listener what the hit songs are right now, they'd tell you something by Blake Shelton or some ****. If you asked someone who listens to urban stations, they'd tell you 7/11. There are many many hit songs at any one point in time, even if they're not all crossover pop hits.

How do you think She has shifted albums so well for nearly 10 years? A nearly continuous string of hit singles, that's how.
