Lol TD was a perfect era because she promoted it so well
Not because the album was better than 1989, 1989 is way more successful than TD, way more critically acclaimed and will probably be more remembered as well as an all around better album.
It's just katy chose all the right singles, promoted them everywhere at the right times, (even at Walmart) and made the most of what she had. That's why it was a perfectly planned era cause she took an album that's probably not as good as any of Taylor's and got 8 top 3s and 6 #1s and 6.5 million album sales from it.
If 1989 got the teenage dream treatment it might have ended up close to 21.
