That's because three pre-order fueled tracks invaded the top ten this morning. It may not be the next big thing, but it's certainly bigger than most pop girl singles released in 2014.
Rihanna doesn't really have a loyal fanbase though. Her songs are heavily depended on the general public. If it catches on with people it will smash, if people continue to act the way it is comprehended now, it won't do well in the long run. I never understood why though cause Rihanna is massive we all know that, but it's very obvious when her songs click and don't click with the general public. Fan base or not I kind of want it to smash even though I don't like it. Simply because Paul is on it and how cool would that be to have that song all over the place
You honestly think these girls sales come from a majority of fans only? If that were the case Gaga's Applause should have opened up with the same numbers as BTW since she has such a ~huge~ fan base.
*I'm not shading Gaga; I'm making a point that the majority of the sales for any song comes from the "general public" rather than a "large fan base".

Well every song depends on the general public; none are solely carried by a fanbase. And it's obvious when most of these girl's singles don't click (i.e. Work Bitch, G.U.Y., TIHWD, Birthday, etc.).
