This season had all the ingredients to be plain ICONIC and HORROR defining. But it fell FLAT.

Random killings =/= Horror

Even Coven, which was as light as AHS gets, had more horror than this season.

Ryan really needs to get back to basics with this show. He needs to find the charm of the first 2 seasons. That dark and creepy atmosphere that defined AHS.

Say what you want to say about Murder House, but it was indeed HORROR. It had all the right elements. It was creepy, dark, crazy, disturbing all done in the right way, and not the Freakshow mess way.

Yes it is. It's called Exploitation and the rule is nearly everybody dies by the end.

Murder House is classic horror trope.
Asylum is psychological/body horror trope.
Coven is camp.
Freakshow is exploitation horror trope.

I knew from the beginning nearly everybody would die when we watched the first episode. The show's premise and tagline is "a freak show's struggle to survive." There was never going to be a happy ending.

Personally, I think they let too many people live. Jimmy and Bette/Dot should have died too and ended the age of the freakshow to fade into memory.

I think after she sort of committed suicide she thought she would become part of edwards gang but instead he sent her to a sort of Heaven like place where she could actually live out her dreams. You know with her freaks where she felt at home

It was a great finale for a weak season. So far... Coven > Asylum > Murder House > Freak Show. I'm looking foward to see the big changes next season cuz this show must go on, but it needs an upgrade.

Bahahah I think it's the most praised and well liked season, but we all have our difference of opinions.

Freak Show had soooooo much potential. They ruined it with soooo many characters and the story went NO WHERE. Top many mini-sub stories that were not needed. Really should have been a Dandy and Twisty team up and cause chaos. Should have focused on an actual circus SHOW, not Elsa singing! They focused too much on the behind the scenes of the circus grounds but nothing really evolving a whole show. Just a mess.

Am I ridiculous in saying I didn't want Dandy to die? I was actually bummed when I found out they drugged him because I knew he was out for the count as soon as he started making those faces. Kind of hard to watch his death scene knowing he had NO chance of escaping that glass box.

I thought Dandy was really one dimensional tbh. He was interesting the first couple of episodes, but then he became a parody of himself. The casual way he talked about who he killed, how he hummed and whistled when killing/pouring blood in his bath/etc, the "I hate you i hate you i hate you!" it just stopped being creepy and started being really campy/predictable. You could pretty much assume that if someone wronged him, he'd kill them.

Characters like Twisty and Chester were far more interesting even though they served less of a purpose. There was more depth to them, they weren't as predictable, etc.

omg so i just realized something. Jessica said to E! that she decided to think about returning and will sit with Ryan and agree if he offers her a spectacular role. And an article came out 3 days ago saying that season 5 will be a complete reinvention of the series. Im hoping this reinvention has something to do with Jessica staying because in reality the show will not get renewed if she's gone. If there was no elsa or fiona then the show would have been cancelled by now. Im only here for AHS w/ jessica

He was a villain and that's what villains do. At least he wasn't pathetic and only being told what to do by a stupid doll. And Twisty stopped being scary when he talked

It's like Ryan saw that people liked (Well, appreciated, for his character) what Dandy was doing, and so he just started repeating it instead of giving him proper development.

the only reason I had some interest in this season from episode 3 to 13 was Dandy, he was like the only interesting person with character development in it(beside the twins), he totally owned this season even if they could have made him even more crazy etc.
I was so pissed with Angela's character she was totally pointless until the last episode
and Jimmy's whinning ass every episode made me wanna scream
The star of this show Jessica had the same role for 4th time tho the last 4 episode made me love her the first 10 episodes I hated her
I hope next season will be miles better than the last 2 season of this show

This was the weakest season, the finale was so disappointing, they could have developed so much intriguing stories, and also they could have developed WAY better the characters they did not have depth or they were just useless (Maggie , I hoped until she died that she was a major villain, that could have been really interesting, she just was randomly there she also died randomly, I guess you can say she stayed true to her character ).

And I hope Jessica Lange, doesn't return, she is great, but I want someone like Lily Rabe or Frances Conroy to be the lead, they proved they are incredibily talented, and I actually want them to give more space to someone who isn't Lange, Peters or Paulson.

And AHS, it's not scary, it never was scary, but it was disturbing and interesting, even Coven that was a mess had some really creepy moments (Kyle's mom, Misty's hell (not the hell itself, but the scene was really disturbing) ), this had really few moments.
