Except style comes from an album that already sold 4 million copies + LMLYD has an entire movie promoting it
No shade love Ellie and the song
Except I already went over this two pages ago, sis! Learn to keep up! Taylor has like ten times Ellie's profile in the US and FSOG isn't even out yet so the film's support is pretty negligible.
Anyway! Omg Ellie's about to pass Meghan! SO glad she's slowly but surely becoming a star here.

But it makes sense though. Style has 4.million less buyers than Ellie because style already is owned by more than 4 million people in the states. It's a valid point. There is no doubt that Style is coming hard but it won't sell massive like SIO and BS simply because her album has sold so much already. Style will struggle to hit 4 million. But 3 million is very likely

But both Shake It Off and Blank Space also have just as many fewer potential buyers because of the complete my album feature, so this argument doesn't really work. Especially not when you look at Adele, who sold both eleven million copies of her album and still two of her three singles still sold at least half that (with the third selling 4.5M).
By this point in its run, Blank Space was already at number one. It's pretty clear Style's not coming that hard, even disregarding everything else. Literally why is anyone even debating this.
Where's the hype if there is no video, no promotion, no performance, and it has yet to reach T20 on an airplay format?
& please don't say people buying 1989, because nobody is gonna buy a song from an album they've bought.
Taylor is terribly overhyped right now. Radio IS playing Style and it had a performance. A while back yes, but it was that performance that set it in motion. The most comparable situation is Dark Horse, which was easily top 10 and on its way to an easy #1 at a comparable time.
Love Me Like You Do is slaying because, despite Ellie not being a huge star here, is being picked up fast by radio and is just a really good song people want to buy.
And Style is being added because of Taylor's name while LMLYD is being added for its sound and hit potential.

It's actually the COMPLETE opposite.
LMLYD is selling off pure hype, and is only a hit because of hype. 50 Shades of Grey
Look @ The Weeknd's song who'd previously never even had a Top 40 hit, is now Top 5 on Spotify + has reached T10 on iTunes. Hell, there's even 'Crazy In Love (50 Shades of Grey Version)' that's been T200 on iTunes for awhile now, and it's not even Beyonce, it's some random woman.
Ellie is not 'slaying because the unique sound and people wanting a good song to buy'. Had she released that under her own album, I'm doubtful it'd even be T100 now. It'd take 3x longer to catch on. She's selling off the hype of being featured in a huge Soundtrack, to a huge movie, from a huge book.
This will be further shown once 50SOG's sales #'s come.
The same points you made to Taylor's 'Style' being a hype as it's behind a huge selling album and overhyped phenomenon, can be made to Ellie.

I see you're uneducated on the facts. Ellie's last lead single sold MORE than LMLYD first week, and she's only a bigger star since then. The Weeknd's song dropped like a rock after it was released until the video shot it back up again, probably just to fall again in a few days. Ellie's song, meanwhile has yet to leave the top 25 and just keeps rising more and more with nothing to keep it up. The movie isn't out and won't be for weeks so there's absolutely no reason it should be doing this. Soundtrack songs have a tendency to fall after release, come back up for a bit while the movie is popular, and fall back again. Boom Clap is like the one exception in the past year. Love Me Like You Do is selling only because its a great, unique song that will smash.

It literally only sold 4k more, and also sold more 2nd week + is currently higher than Burn was 3rd week (in which by then Burn was falling out of the Top 40, then nearly Top 100).

Did you not read Top 5 on Spotify? It's gaining airplay, and additionally the movie is hitting theaters soon.

Increase in airplay....like you pointed out for 'Style' doing well?

So the fact that it's selling more 3rd week means it's driven by hype? Do you realize that it's the exact opposite?

And Style is selling it's most this week also? Nearing T10 with still no promotion, no new performance, or a music video. Just gaining airplay as is LMLYD.
Everything you've thus far said can be applied to both.
50 Shades isn't even using Ellie's song in the trailers. They are using the unreleased remix of CIL.
I fail to see how the movie is helping LMLYD sales.
Hilarious that a song that is at number 12 without a music video is getting the haters so pressed. Style is clearly going to smash. Have folks forgotten that one performance rocketed the song up 100+ places on iTunes to number 6? What do you think will happen if Taylor performs Style at the Grammy's and the Brit Awards next month?
Style still does not have a music video, unlike EVERY other single track above it. We've seen how Sugar got a huge sales boost from it's video this month. BS music video has accrued 395 million views on vevo faster than Wrecking Ball did, in 2.5 months compared to 3 months. SIO music video has got more than 500 millon views in just over 5 months. Taylor is racking up those youtube views in this era like never before. When Style music video drops, it also will have a massive effect.
Style already passed the Gold mark, weeks before it's official add dates and without even a music video. It wasn't a promo single. It is doing fine.
