FROST'S BEST OF 2014 | UPDATE #10
|
# 07 | B.A.P - "First Sensibility"
Like many other K-pop acts this year, B.A.P's 'First Sensibility' wasn't expected to chart within my best albums as I haven't used their music at all since the day they debuted. It was because I found the rap to hardcore and it made it difficult for me to appreciate it as it was too 'in your face'. This album has demonstrated how B.A.P are actually a hip-hop band incorporating typical pop formulas and other genres such as rock into their music. This album is very high quality and there tracks aren't just fillers or generic pieces. Each track is pure B.A.P which is unusual since many tracks on this album don't conform to the music I listened to when they debuted.
BEST TRACKS: Save Me, Lovesick, SPY, S.N.S, Bang x2
WORST TRACKS: (None) |

# 06 | Miliyah Kato - "LOVELAND"
“LOVELAND” is Miliyah’s second and final album to chart this year’s top albums list. This album feels a lot more personal compared to the previous one mentioned as it feels more independent. She sings the songs with so much soul fulfilling them with emotion. I think this with album, listeners can clearly depict that Miliyah is an artist who's capable of evolving her style without losing herself as an artist. Her music really is incredible.
BEST TRACKS: The One, EMOTION, Shape of Love, LOVER -EPISODE II-, You're Beautiful, Loveland
WORST TRACKS: PRIDE, RUN FREE |

# 05 | f(x) - "Red Light"
Although I’m not a follower of f(x)’s music. I couldn’t miss out the opportunity of downloading this album after the amazing critical response it got. The album can be described as an all-rounder. By this I mean it’s a moderately stable pop album with each track amplified with tastes of different genres. “All Night” has disco influences; “Dracula” is a great electro-pop track with a gothic inspired chorus while “Milk” is by far one of the most creative tracks this year. This is definitely the perfect album for listeners who are new to K-pop as it isn’t too overwhelming.
BEST TRACKS: Paper Heart, Butterfly, Milk, Dracula, Red Light
WORST TRACKS: Summer Lover |
#15 | TVXQ! - "Something" - This is a classy K-pop song with a funky jazz twist. It is such a strong tracks as their personality and charisma gives the tracks it's charm, while the instrumental gives it that extra punch. The choreography and concept in the video are also outstanding.
#14 | Ella Henderson - "Ghost" -I initially didn't think much to this track, but it gradually grew on me until I fell in love with the song. The vocals are superb on 'Ghost' and the lyrics are iconic and original. It's a step-up from what I originally believed Ella would do as a solo artist.
#13 | Miliyah Kato x Mika Nakashima - The song is SO SO incredible! It's a pop/rock track which feature the collaboration between to big J-pop acts. Their voices blend perfectly and both give the song all their emotion and passion. The instrumental is very well composed to give the song grit and emotion.
#12 | Taylor Swift - "Blank Space"- This song has nearly made it to my top ten and it isn't even in my top five tracks of 1989! So y'all know what to expect in 2015 if she releases my favorite tracks. This song has emotion but also humor which is really a parody of Taylor Swift's love life. It's a great pop track with minimal alternative influences. The video is beautiful and one of the best this year.
#11 | Foxes - "Glorious" - This track can be described by it's title. It really is glorious. It has such an epic build up which is power packed by the end of the song. It's a feel good song. Foxes sings the song with so much elegance and emotion. |
