500k is successful for almost all retail games. 500,000 × $50 = $25M. A publisher will generally take in about 40% of that, unless they are sold digitally (which is 80%, iirc).
Splatoon looks like it will flop, imo. It reminds me of something that would have come out on the XBox in like 2005. I am hoping it smashes out of nowhere and pushes the U.S. market for the Wii U, though.
