The BAFTA shutout is just.. and they actually watched it too, Oyelelo got a "standing ovation" from one of the members Twitter accounts..

Brits are naturally conservative. Their is a strong racial element in many of the productions over here, and while its not overt, in your face like in the States, its still apparent here.
Plus, Selma is too *different* for their voters to comprehend with. We are ****ing boring, we just don't embrace change or any time if progressive reform at all. In short, we tend to take the easier, less political straw.
