What do you mean by "going to do ethnic"? Do you realise how ignorant you sound? Disgusting.
Instead of being proud of the steps we've taken, you revert to judgement. Says a lot about the type of people you are.

First of all, I can judge him for his ugly beard. It is... ugly. Someone else might like it, and that's so wonderful for them.
The actor on the left is obviously of a different ethnic background than the man on the right, and he was chosen deliberately to contrast with the genericly handsome pale white man. It's not an opinion, it's a fact. It's not ignorant, it's obvious. There is no racism to be found.
Finally, "going to do ethnic" is a very real thing in the entertainment and modeling industry. Yes, I am very blatant with my description because I'm simply calling it out for what it is. They wanted a more "ethnic" looking contrast to the generic white Canadian stereotype. You can rephrase it any way you prefer to sound more politically correct.
I could pretend to like the commercial in all of its goofy, poor attempt at cuteness glory, but I can't when the script is so bad and the castings are mocking gay stereotypes. It's so try hard that it just becomes tacky.
