Are you serious? that was considered a VERY risky move in 2008, go look up the articles and do your research.
I've read the articles. Every article says that katy is not "used to feature rap artists in her songs" (not true see E.T) and that the song is a quite different sound for her becasue of the hip-hop influences, but that's it
Actually, I do think releasing Dark Horse was a risk. One can say it wasn't, but in fact, it was. And not only was Dark Horse a risk, but imo, Unconditionally, Wide Awake, The One That Got Away, Thinking Of U & E.T. were all risks.
All these songs aren't what Katy is known for (bubblegum pop songs). Imo they were risks. Some of them paid off - E.T., DH, & TOTGA - and some didn't - Uncle, WA & ToU-.
