The Carter III will reach 3 million sold next week. He'll have another huge increase because of the Grammys
"Mad" is increasing Ne-Yo's sales a lot. He already outsold Because Of You.
I knew Rihanna's sales would increase. I feel so sorry for her, now I want to buy GGGB again to support her.

Well at least sales increased. The girls seriously need a new single and to do actual good promo. A few interviews won't do it. No one knows who they are and yet they have a big single.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised how well a lot of these albums are performing. After years of declining sales it looks like the top 200 is starting to level out. Several multi-platinum awards on the way for T.I., Britney, Taylor, Nickelback etc.
Love Is Love, Because of You has actually sold over 980k so far but I'm pretty sure YOTG is headed to surpass that.

GRAMMY TAKES A RIDE: It’s a two-way battle at the top of next week’s chart between Taylor Swift and Album of the Year Grammy winners Plant/Krauss, both of which should benefit from Valentine’s Day weekend gift-giving spikes to score between 80-90k in sales. The week’s top debut is Capitol U.K. pop diva Lily Allen, exceeding expectations at 65-70k, thanks to downloads being sold for $3.99 at Amazon, along with a current five-star customer rating. BTW, Lily also wrestled away the #1 spot last night at iTunes from The Lonely Island. The rest of the Top 10 might very well look like this:
Plant/Krauss (Rounder): 80-90k
Taylor Swift (Big Machine): 80-90k
** Lily Allen (Capitol): 65-70k
The Fray (Epic): 65-70k
2009 Grammy Nominees (Rhino): 60-65k
Adele (XL/Columbia): 60-65k
Coldplay (Capitol): 60-65k
Bruce Springsteen (Columbia): 50-55k
** Bobby Valentino (Capitol): 50-55k
** India.Arie (Universal Republic): 50-55k
** Lonely Island (Universal Republic): 50-55k

^The entire top 10 is shaking up next week. That most likely means she's out of the top ten.

The cut-off this week is 50k, which is where IA...SF has been hovering for a while now which means she's probably going to be out of the top 10 this week.
And Rico, I want "Amy" to be as big as "B...OMT" and "Oops!" were and I have the feeling it's going to be so 2x platinum sounds very likely.

Uhm... hope not. There's not updated spots for these albums like many weeks ago, maybe they just noticed us about the Grammy bumps.

I actually think that's highly impressive. Not just because it's an independent release, but because her single got pretty much zero airplay (and the single has no video either), her indie label couldn't afford any real promo, and she didn't perform once on national TV before the album dropped. You'd have to be on the internet, paying attention, to even know she had an album coming out. To do nearly 11,000 in your first week under those circumstances is a testament to her having a small, but loyal fanbase. If she can expand beyond that, this album could do very well. Melinda's album is #3 on the top Independent albums Billboard chart, so that shows how hard it is for independent albums to crack the stronghold of the majors. They haven't got the promo dollars.
Contrast this to Adele, who debuted last year at #62 in June 2008, selling just over 11,000. Adele was on a major record label (Columbia), and tonnes of national promo (being hyped as the new Amy Winehouse ect) and also had a lot of radioplay for "Chasing Pavements" (and a video). For Melinda's debut to be not far off Adele's, with all the commercial advantadges Adele had from being on a major, is a good sign for Doolittle.
Not saying Doolittle is going to go on and sell 400,000 copies and win the Grammy for Best New Artist like Adele, but there is defintely scope for this album to grow. If she can do 11,000 without radioplay, TV exposure or serious promo, then you'd have to think that some serious national TV promo (and some airplay, and a video) could work wonders. If her people can get her booked to perform on shows like The View (she just did Ellen this week) and the Late Show, it'll be the type of exposure the album needs. I know she'll be perfoming on America Idol this season as well, which should help out as well. I think she needs to choose a more radio-friendly song off her album for her next single.

Interesting points, therefore, I stand corrected n the "quite OK for an independent release" remark. I like Melinda a lot although I know that during AI6 she wont win because she is really not a pop star material. Actually, I don't see her having a radio hit, her music is niche but I do hope her upcoming AI performance will help boost her sales. Who knows she could do well like Elliott Yamin
