Ariana slayed just a bit in 2013. Her debut single, The Way, literally paved the way for her when it came to acceptance by pop radio and pop audiences. While this song is somewhat easily forgettable, Ariana's vocals are something else. The Mac Miller feature adds something to the song as well.

#49 Cher Lloyd feat. T.I. - I Wish

"I wish I was tall, I wish I was fast / Wish I could shop with a bag full of cash / 'Cause if I want you, I gotta have that / Come, come kiss me boy / I wish I had style, I wish I had flash / Wish I woke up with a butt and a rack / 'Cause if I want you, I gotta have that / Come, come kiss me boy..."

I wish this song was a hit. I can't help but be upset with the way Epic Records has treated Cher Lloyd and Avril Lavigne. This song is a true smash. The chorus is incredibly catchy, and T.I.'s feature takes this song to another level. It's all about wishing you had something so you'll be noticed by someone- who hasn't experienced that?

#48 Lana Del Rey - Young & Beautiful

"Will you still love me / When I'm no longer young and beautiful? / Will you still love me / When I got nothing but my aching soul? / I know you will, I know you will / I know that you will / Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful?"

In her traditional hauntingly beautiful fashion, Lana Del Rey released Young & Beautiful from The Great Gatsby soundtrack. Lana truly has a gift for songwriting, and this melodic song is no exception. You'll see Lana again soon.

#47 Little Big Town - Your Side of the Bed

"Tell me how, how'd you get so far away? / All we have left are the memories of the love we made / Are you sleeping with your own regret? / On your side of the bed... / On your side of the bed there's a burned out candle flame / A letter I started but I didn't know what to say..."

I had never listened to Little Big Town before I heard this song. Lyrically, this song is amazing. It's all about sleeping in the same bed as someone else, but feeling worlds apart. This song really turned me on to Little Big Town as a group, so I'll be sure to check for them in the future.

#46 Lorde - Royals

"I've never seen a diamond in the flesh / I cut my teeth on wedding rings in the movies... / We don't care, we aren't caught up in your love affair / And we'll never be royals..."

There's always at least one song every year that captivates the mainstream, but does not capture my attention quite as much. Don't get me wrong, I like Royals and I like Lorde, but this song is just a bit too bare-bones for my taste. The writing is fantastic, and it's actually incredible for a first single from such a young artist.
