I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did but Azealia’s long-awaited album was quite worth the wait. Her lyrics are basically out of this world and the production and beats to support it are an eclectic mix of voguey pop and rap. Its so varied and inspiring and ultimately ambitious. Really, even if you aren’t a fan of hip hop at all there is bound to be at least 2 or 3 songs on here that will spark your interest.
Z is lush, its fantastical, its flowery but its still bold. If you enjoy albums that feel like dark fairytales come to life you’ll love this one. The production is basically overflowing and the beats are so atmospheric and twisted. The best parts are the lyrics which are offer a nice look into her life and mind but even those get caught up amongst the beat. I guess, a good way to describe it would be like if you imagined going inside the actual brain of a person and seeing and feeling all of their thoughts come to life. And I know some people preferred some of the tracks that were released before like Teen Spirit but I prefer the ones on this actual release since the concepts feel more polished.
