I just skimmed through the album again(my ears ain't pleased) and literally all but 4-5 songs(which were ballads) had synths on it and the cheapest and most generic kind at that

Well I'm only listening to Devil Prays, Messiah, Heartbreak City, Borrowed Time, Joan of Arc, so basically the other half of the demos... and even those slightly EDM inspired tracks you mentioned are pretty introspective. aside from the "bitch" ones.
