3.4 is way too low for med school lol. You'd need atleast a 40 on the MCAT and amazing extra curriculurs.

He could most definitely get into med school with that GPA with a 33 or higher on the MCAT. But...if he's an URM, which I am.

Also, around application submission time, his GPA could improve a bit.

So I got into Boston University ED today. I am SO relieved I've been having awful stomach aches and panic attacks about this. I seriously did NOT have any other schools I wanted. I applied to 2 SUNY's I didn't even visit as safeties and that was iT. And my school makes a really big deal about all this stuff, they even send out a newsletter at the end of the year with everyone's colleges underneath their senior photos I'm so excited to live in Boston, I love it there so much, and everything about BU just seemed perfect for me. Tons of access to resturants and music while at the same time not being as gray or intimidating as Manhattan/NYU.
I'm extremely relieved that I don't need to actually fill out another application too, because my college counselor wanted those in to her for editing this Monday like girl please

Congrats!! I went to BU's summer challenge and loved it. However its too expensive for me and I just didn't end up applying. I hope you have a fantastic time.

I think so. But its never too early to start visiting and going for interviews. I would suggest beefing up your service and ECs, making sure your GPA is on POINT, take ACT and SAT multiple times (and doing well obviously) and staying out of trouble.

If you feel content with your with your stats (GPA, testing scores, and etc.) I would suggest applying very early senior year. Like September, October.

If not, apply closer to the deadline of the schools you're applying to. Use that first part of your senior year to just improve where needed.

I'm medicine student and this is my last year


i need to decide what do i want to specialize at, i'm really into psychiatry but i don't want to take care of adult patients i want to be a pediatric psychiatrist, but it's really hard to get in there and i'm studying as hell

any other ideas for me? what would you specialize at if you were a medicine student?

You can do so much with an econ degree, and I was about to commit to it, but I ruined my grade because I messed up one test.

I will never forget that; **** elasticity. I did the entire test...with the formula flipped upside down (%price over %quantity instead of quantity over price.) My teacher refused to let me make up those points: a 40% on one of your two tests is a grade killer.

Switched to accounting after that debacle. (But I like it more, so it all worked out)

I'm doing Econ!! Trying to do that and a European Studies double major (with a focus in French politics/economics).
I'm also doing a Business Journalism minor. I'm just trying to make money!!!! And hopefully this works out. I'd like to get an MBA eventually.

College Confidential is helpful for formulating college lists and finding scholarships and information. It's awful for confidence.

They dragged me to the pits when I was applying to places, since I applied to 18 colleges, and a little less than half of them I had no chance of getting into . Never let your parents force you to apply anywhere if you have no shot. Especially Stanford . The worst college app EVER.

Ah, that sucks. Try to regroup and find a place that feels right for you. Colleges can be important, but elite universities aren't the end all. I, too, got rejected from my ED school (the only school I felt passionate about going to), but things still work out.
