Her team is trash and she doesn't even seem to notice that. Or maybe she does but she can't find a team that's able to invest in her as a brand and an artist.

I don't mean reinventing to the point where she's a different artist, I mean she needs to reinvent her brand. This includes her maturing up as a WOMAN (no longer that "I'm eternally 12" bs when her damn kids will be 12 in less than a decade) as well as growth as an artist (as in creating songs that resonates with ADULTS that buy albums instead of chasing kids that don't click with her).

She's definitely at a point where she can't afford one more misstep. Unless she cares to get her **** together, we'll be getting more performances like this.

In that video, Trent talked about Mariah doing a sit down with Oprah or Barbra Walters to discuss her voice and why it is at the state it is. I have been thinking about something like this for a while now. I want Mariah to be real (no for giggles, laughs, jokes, etc) and actually discuss the serious topics like her voice.

The one redeeming and positive this year was that the album is great and has been compared to her magnum opus (Butterfly) in terms of quality and turned out to be worth the wait

If the album had been bad this year would of been a complete disaster imo

I remember Kelly Price had thrown some subtle shade about Mariah's voice being a gimmick. She was a background singer for Mariah once and apparently they had a fall out...

I don't think there's any scandalous truth behind Mariah's vocals though. The perfection that her voice was from 1990 to 1996 could only last so long, especially with contanst recording, performing, promoting and yearly releases. And then she started drinking too. But her voice can be back in shape if she focuses on it. She did it in 2005

But I don't think it's irreversible. Vocal talent doesn't just go away. If she stops drinking and if she accepts to do hardcore vocal training for months and warm up everyday, she'll at least be where she was in 2005, maybe even when she was in 1997, which is good

Yeah, it has been a very very tough year for her, and by extension, us as fans. But I couldn't be more proud of her for maintaining her composure and not allowing the media to bully her into commenting about any incident/divorce. I am confident she'll lay the groundwork for a more appealing comeback soon. She should use these next few weeks to surround herself with a team that is committed to propelling her back to the top.

I expected a tumbling mess, but she hit 98% of the notes and puts a very pleasant performance. The only reason it sounds 'bad' is because IT WAS DELIBERATELY EDITED DOWN TO SOUND LIKE SHE'S SINGING A DEMO INTO HER IPHONE, and it wasn't even a bad 'demo'.
