I agree but instead of changing the definition of an album sale, they could just make a new streaming certification and chart. Keep the album sales chart, a chart about album sales and make a new 'consumption chart' that combines streams/single sales/album sales, make another new album streams chart, etc, instead of changing the album sales chart.
Sales are trash now obviously but still high enough to be interesting. Combining makes it hard to find out sales.
Like IFPI used to be the only source for global single sales, and then last year they decided to combine sales with Youtube views/streams, making it impossible to find out actual global sales
