He could've talked about it without mentioning names tbh. Well, I mean he obviously knew that mentioning the biggest selling rapper of all time would bring attention to the song but it's not like it was their fault. Those artists sells album but it's not like people were forced to buy them.
He could've talked about it in a more decent way and with better lyrics.

Well that's completely subjective. First of all, I feel like he's one of the most versatile rappers out there and though many like to ignore the many subject matters that he touches, he does do so: bullying, domestic violence, love, white privilege, politics, child abuse, drug abuse, etc. He has shown progression. Maybe it's hard for you to see as his flow changes a lot. Although MMLP and MMLP2 have similar elements purposefully as he was trying to stay true to the original all the while showcasing his progression, they are paradoxically different in that they mark two completely time periods in his life. The most evident example of this is Cleanin' Out My Closet vs. Headlights.

Rappers do politics/social issues all the time. Labels just choose to pay them dust when they are black.
And when I say versatile I mean could spit on RnB? Where are his club bangers?

That's not the same thing. Em's not serious while J.Cole is. He's talking about an issue and trying to make people aware of it. He mentions a rapper that struggled (not in sales obviously but gainign respect) when he started because people were already talking about his color.

Both Eminem and Macklemore acknowledge that being white gives them privileges of success and awards over their black peers. If I'm not mistaken they both even have songs about white privilege, yet ya'll getting mad and Cole? This is just plain facts, its not their fault necessarily. Eminem is a talented rapper though and JT is good at R&B so they don't get as much hate anymore... Iggy and Macklemore on the other hand aren't as good as current rappers at all

I don't understand why he has to? If he's a rapper and always identified as such why should you be pressed that he doesn't spit on R&B songs? Besides some of his songs such as Superman has R&B elements.

Because no rapper has has had 2 decade career sounding like Public Enemy. He is dated. But he gets away with it because it's edgy when a white person wears backward caps.

He mentioned Adele in another song though. He said something like "I wonder if I were lighter skinned would I sell like Eminem and Adele".

He does have a point. There's nothing wrong with white people doing music created by black people imo, but it is a bit awkward that nearly all the most successful ones this decade have been white.
