I think that Circus is going to somehow get overshadowed by Womanizer starting to fall and If You Seek Amy starting to climb ... hopefully I'm wrong.

4 5 BRITNEY SPEARS Womanizer 7370 8644 -1274 46.775
8 6 BRITNEY SPEARS Circus 6922 5963 959 48.707
And still doing great digitally. "Circus" won't get overshadowed. It's already beaten "Womanizer", and "If U Seek Amy" is only getting pre-hype. I think the way JIVE/Larry are doing it this era is "Circus" is the middle single. It's hot enough to keep the album selling, and it's doing great on radio. I mean it's about to be ANOTHER TOP 3 POP RADIO HIT for her. That's definitely not saying overshadow. Beyonce's case would be more of an overshadowing situation with "Single Ladies" still growing while "Halo" is trying to impact.
But about the middle single, instead of them working it to death like they did "Toxic" as the 2nd single, "If U Seek Amy" is the single she will perform and they will heavily promote.
So no, "Circus" is not going to be overshadowed. It's about to surpass "Womanizer", it's audience is AMAZING, and it's doing great on TV/digital.

I still think "Circus" is underperforming. It's doing brilliantly on radio but the song continues its free-fall on iTunes. It is falling slowly, to be sure, but falling fast enough to drop out of the Billboard top 10 again.
"If U Seek Amy" passed "K__ps Ge__in' Be__er" on iTunes.

I don't know why people jump on me when I say this. You KNOW it's true. "Circus" peaked too early, was released too early, yadda yadda yadda. But it doesn't really matter because it's not going to ruin this era. "If U Seek Amy" is a clear reinvigoration.

"Circus" is not free-falling. It was #1 on iTunes for like ages, then yes slid down rather quickly to the high Top 10s, and now most recently #8-#9, but that's nothing to say it's underperforming. "Womanizer" was played up as the comeback so it held forever, "Circus" was #1 for a week or two, and now top 10 for 2 months due to it's video and one performance. But other than that, "Circus" is PLATINUM on digital and it's rising up on radio.
Don't take it as jumping on you, eli, but you're not making any sense whatsoever. I feel you're trying to find something bad to say, which is surprising coming from you. It's doing great, no it didn't go #1 but it's holding very well to be working off radio/the video/a performance. Very disappointed in you.
And it wasn't released too early, nor peaked too early. The point of it's early release was for it to sustain and to sell the album, considering they waited nearly 3 months of "Womanizer". It'll be top ten for weeks until the official release of "IUSA", which will then have both of those songs together. You're just not understanding the method.

???
No, I'm not trying to find something bad to say. I feel like a lot of you simply don't understand. It peaked well, but it's not as steady as it should be. IDK. Maybe it is. I just think it's even catchier than "Womanizer" and one extra performance would've pushed it over the edge to go #1.
"If U Seek" will probably top the chart, though.

I understand. But it's been steady. First two weeks inside top five, then out the top 10 and it's been #11-#12 the last few weeks, and now it's about to move back into the top 10 with rising airplay. It's platinum on digital, with sales staying steady, and about to be another top 10 on the Hot 100 Airplay for her.
Of course extra promotion would make the sales go back up, but sadly it doesn't have another performance. But to say it's underperforming it's absurd, really. "IUSA" is being prepped. As I said, it'll be the single they really push on. "Circus" was just middle ground as she prepares for the tour, nevertheless a success.

If U Seek Amy will most likely go for adds in early March at this point. They'll notice the rising iTunes and start pushing it.

The radio spins are increasing daily. It could enter the Hot 100 before it goes for adds if they wait until March.

It'll return to the Hot 100 this week, since it's nearing Top 60 on iTunes again. So no doubt it'll begin it's rise very soon. But first week of March or late February if it's getting too big too early. Which won't be bad. They may be able to squeeze a 5th single into the era.

I'm sure she will get at least 5 singles especially since she's touring.

I still don't know how Justin's first 3 singles topped the chart
Can someone explain to me? At that time (2006) I wasn't interested in charts, and passing through his discography last night confused me. How can his first 3 singles top the chart? That's impossible. I think that's enough for him to be called the new king of pop (oh well, Mr. Jackson is shopping in Bahrain's mall ).
