I remember going to this one church, and the pastor stopping in the middle of his sermon and demanding that the collection plate be passed around again because he felt people didn't give enough. Needless to say, I never returned.

On one hands, tithes are needed so I understand where he's coming from. On the other hand, people give what they can.

Lol y'all know how I feel about picking on Black folk. The issues you brought up exist in all ethnic groups tbh.

I totally get that. It's unfair how someone who is supposed to be your leader may not have their own priorities straight and can talk a lot of nonsense sometimes. But I believe that church is a positive thing. It helps a lot of people and hey, it is kind of crucial to our cultural history as we know it if you forgot.

Woo Lord at my church if you missed one week they'd be like "Pray for brother so and so" and when u get back they'd act like your crazy AF for even missing one day. What is your denomination again? My fam is Seventh Day Adventists so maybe they're just psycho.

My mom has a friend and I was friends with her son.
She was was one of those extremists, the ones who thought Harry Potter was about the devil
She would go to church every day for literally HOURS on end.

I attended with her once we went in at like 2PM and didn't leave until 8:30PM

ddd i have 0 family members who eat any food banned in Leviticus (pork, shelfish etc)
-They all think gays <<<<<
-Think it's a sin to watch T.V., use the stove, work or buy things from sundown friday to sundown saturday
-No sex until marriage, no dating until like 18 ( )
-Randomly dislike Catholics and think they're going to hell and the pope is evil or something.

Also my Grandmother once told my cousins they should be reading their bibles instead of listening to demonic singers like Brianna and Chris Brown. She watches 3ABN(Christian channel) all day too.

If you're a devout Catholic (my immediate fam wasn't devout at all, thankfully), their doctrine is more traumatizing than any pulpit/congregation mess coming from other churches/denominations imo.

@RudeBoyy I am a baptized Baptist, but I also sing at Pentecostal services because of a community choir I'm in. Basically in church twice a week lol

- I know plenty of people in church who love Harry Potter and magic/fantasy type of shows. It's really no big deal.

- There is nothing inherently wrong with secular music or secular singers, like Chris Brown. It's all about discernment between songs like "Yo, Excuse Me Miss" and "Wet the Bed". And even if you listen to "Wet the Bed" type of stuff, it's about discernment between right and wrong and not letting things influence you to do wrong.

- That pork rules sounds funny. The rules imposed on the Jews in the Hebraic law, *except for the ones reiterated in the New Testament, apply to Christians.

- some people don't like the Catholic emphasis on Mary. Some see it as idol worship. I'm not so judgmental personally.

- Long prayers and services are optional, not required. People just like to throw their own preferences in there and impose them on others which is wrong

My late grandmom and my mom were devout catholics but nothing major happened with them.
