"It sounds like an Unapologetic leftover" When the production and lyrics resemble literally NONE of the songs on Unapologetic. Rap-Singing has been Beyoncé's thing since 1998, Rihanna has NEVER done it, Bug a Boo spits harder than anything on TTT, Destiny's Child's career was built on Bey's ability to fast rap-sing. Beyoncé has been delivering urban bops since before Rihanna crawled along the seafloor from the Caribbean and surfaced in the Def Jam offices.

All before Rihanna even went Rated R and way before she discovered Birthday Cake, the fact is Beyoncé's music has always been urban and had influences from rap and hip-hop, and trying to say that it's 'not classy like her' or 'unexpected' is dumb as **** when she's had songs referencing her 'Kitty Kat' long before suburban moms had the first disc of I Am... Sasha Fierce on repeat in their minivan. Sit. Down.
Can we just stop with this now? Dancehall in 2005 was not some new genre in pop music. It may not have been the major sound of the times, but it was there.
And I didn't say it was
I was merely correcting someone who said rih only had pop hits till TTT
Smack that / Clap, clap, clap like you don't care (I know you care) / Clap, clap, clap it, clap it, clap it / Foot up, my foot up / Holdin' up now my foot up / (Spinnin') I'm spinnin' my foot up, foot up / Yeah, my foot up / (Spinnin') I'm spinnin' my foot up / Put my foot down / Yeah, my hands up, my hands up, my hands up / (Flexin') Flexin' while my hands up / (Flexin') My hands up, my hands up / I stand up with my hands up / Then I put up my hands up / I put up my hands up / I put up my hands up
seriously tho Bey? idk bout this it's like she let Blue and Julez write this mess
Kiiiii some of these "hits" weren't ever hits some of these songs aren't even from 2005 and this is what you all call dancehall dominating the charts?
Girl please. They were all released around that time And the dancehall/riddim sound remained pretty popular for awhile, especially amongst the Urban crowd.

They were right because Pon De Replay is pop It's just dancehall insipired pop, but it's still a dance-pop song.

The Diwali riddim used in Pon De Replay was on SEVERAL US hits before Rihanna released with it. I'm not sure why this is even news to a Rih fan, but I guess gotta keep in mind that a lot of ppl on here are really young and/or not from the US I guess. I thought Pon De Replay was going to be a remix of Lumidee's song first time I heard it.

wtf is this...sounds like a demo and not even good one. I refuse to believe this (along with Ring Off which is as bad) was the best unreleased track from self titled sessions good luck B
but idk I guess I like seeing / hearing how she goes thru her creative process. She probably wrote 7/11 specifically in like 5 minutes, recorded it for fun, still liked it after a year and is now releasing it as a gift for fans. She's clearly not reaching for the moon here as she did with the album. they both sound demo-ish but again that's kinda what I like about them / makes them more valid as what they are
