I guess Britney after the Circus era entered that post-Music era Madonna period in a way. Insane, 24/7 media coverage from her debut until then, and since then she's still a presence but not nearly as much.
Britney's BIG media presence ended after 2007/08, yes. But, like I said, I'd argue Madonna's spiked in 93 with Erotica and then just stagnated after that. Obviously, both were/are still around and covered by the media, but not nearly to the same degree.

Yeah Brinty had 10 years of being the biggest star/celeb and then after her comeback the attention went away relatively fast.
It's hard to maintain it for that long. MJ, Knee, Madonna are prob top in that aspect. Bey is definitely moving up there in that celeb/press aspect. She's been it for the last few years.
Mariah is only more remembered because of her classic song (AIWFCIY) and semi-recent hits. Touch My Body and Obsessed were only a few years ago.
My introduction to Mariah was Emancipation, I had no idea about her 90's career/slayage until recently.
I feel like for most of the older popstars, you're only as relevant as your current music/media coverage. Idk a single Cher song except for Believe, but I know her because she has been in the media for my entire life. Madonna is kind of similar in that sense. I'm sure everyone knows her because of the name-recognition but she's not some huge star.
I knew Whitney for her personal life and craziness growing up. I also knew "I wanna dance with somebody" but it's wasn't some hugely referenced 80's classic like MJ's catalogue, at least for me.
I've known Cyndi forever because her two classics are ****ing huge here. Poor everyone.
