what's even more impressive is the digital is $12.99 on iTunes, no bonus tracks or anything these digital albums are too damn expensive but they'll keep being expensive if they sell like this.

Adele is the only other artist who will sell even nearly as much as Taylor in digital albums, given the rate that streaming is consuming the digital market.

You know what, I was actually thinking about this. I mean there are many others that are far bigger in terms of their impact on culture, media presence, etc, like Madonna who obviously has 100x the impact on popular culture and music, but I don't think she ever dominated the market this much and for so long (isn't every TS album either the best selling or the second best selling album released in its calendar year?). In terms of raw numbers she might be the biggest female artist ever in the US, when you compare market share and adjust for the decrease in sales.

The market share record is more impressive and she will shatter it once again.

Yes.
No album released in 2006 sold more than 'Taylor Swift'
No album released in 2008 sold more than 'Fearless'
Only one album released in 2010 (Recovery) sold more than 'Speak Now' (it's only like 150K behind)
No album released in 2012 sold more than 'Red'
No album released in 2014 sold more than '1989'

2006: #1
2008: #1
2010: #2 (#1 female, only behind Eminem)
2012: #1
2014: #1 (after 2 days  )
I think it's very possible. By the end of her career she may sell more units in the US than Britney, and THAT is just incredible given the state of the market and the fact that she has only been around for the digital era and soon-to-be streaming era.

Her hard-core fans should go the fúck in and buy the album on the remaining retailers. Besides, that has always been the way Bey and Britney fans roll.

Damn. And she's a MONSTER in touring in the US too. I suppose singles are the only area where she's not extraordinary, she does have hits but not like Madonna circa 80s or Mariah circa first half of the 90s where everything they released was a big smash.

But what other retailers would even matter much? 200k from elsewhere seems pretty hard task. So this 1,2 mil prediction seems to be spot on.
Still. Bowing! Legend.

I wonder if this was written before her GMA performances, Mario Lopez, Ryan Seacrest, and The Talk promo today.

347,000 must have come from other stores. This represents 347,000 / 1,208,000 = 28.7%.
For Red:
iTunes = 38.5%
Target = 32.8%
Other = 28.7 %
if 28.7 % of the total sales of 1989 have not been considered yet in the projections, then you have:
Total sales = 600,000 + 410,000 + Other sales
But other sales = 28.7% of Total Sales so:
Total sales = 600,000 + 410,000 + 28.7% x Total sales
Total sales - 28.7% x Total sales = 1,010,000
71.3% x Total sales = 1,010,000
Total sales = 1,416,550 units
Sorry! Don't mind the algebra, but based on Reds statistics and the fact that Other sales besides Target and iTune sales were 28.7%, then, if the same ratios or percentages hold up, 1989 could sell 1.4 million copies. The only problem that may exist is if other markets have drastically declined in comparison to Target and itunes.

She might not have multiple major smashes, but I'm pretty sure that with over 73m digital singles sold, she's either just behind Rihanna or she's now the biggest digital track seller in US history.

The shade of you bringing this up not slick
And yeah it doesn't seem like she sells much there even but since these are predictions it could even still happen without them

It's really not even shade; you all know how hard I stanned for Gaga, and how I still like her quite a lot.

What helps Taylor though is she has multiple album tracks that scan gold and platinum.
Like, 10/13 of the standard Fearless tracks are certified gold or more.
