Language will also help CL out massively. It's the one thing that ultimately killed any chance of BoA succeeding. Her English just wasn't good enough.
It's not enough to be able to speak it, the accent has to be clear or America will just dismiss as "some foreign chick". Luckily CL has a very good accent.
She also needs to make sure her personality shines through. Utada spent way too much time trying to reinforce her "American-ness" and failed to make an album with any personality as a result. This Is The One was a good English album, but it was generic and bland.
SNSD failed because a 9 member group simply can't have just 2 members speaking on their behalf the whole time, regardless if they are Americans or not, it just looks weird.
CL has a good shot, and I want her to try Europe as a solo artist as well. I think she could do great in the UK with some decent promotion.
