Do the people that don't like it cause it doesn't remind them of What You Waiting For? or Wind It Up expect her to make songs that sound the same the rest of her career? Those songs were crafted during a different creative era she was in.

I think people are taken aback by it because it has been 8 years since an album, so we haven't gotten to witness or hear her artistic changes and growth, instead all of the changes and growth just happened.
