New wave the genre, peaked in the 80s. Think Eurythmics, The Police (minus their reggae influence), Blondie, Duran Duran etc. That's kind of how I imagine the album because of how much people have talked about drums, guitar, and synths, but of course more heavily on the pop side of things.

And what's nice is she has other moments in other songs that are very "all too well" "scarf" moments, where it's stuff we've literally picked up from certain relationships (well one in particular) that she references, that is done really well, and is quite cute
Probably hard to know from 1 listen, but do any of the hymns reference each other? Like "I Knew You Were Trouble" references "Treacherous" and "Holy Ground" references "All Too Well".
Yes the first song. The hook is simple, but great, and again, I'm like, why has no one said that this way before. giving me "careless man's careful daughter" teas but with zero correlation to that song or lyric
