We don't need more The Shame and Shame Monster bandwagoners in this thread, the ones we have are enough.
Only Born To Slay and CHARTTOP praise are allowed in this thread.

No lie but her Thanksgiving Special EP is probably her best released work. So consistent and short, sweet and fun.   |

  | Summerboy is in her Top 10 best songs ever, probably. Starstruck should have been a single. Money Honey is just damn great.
Dope is trash. Her vocals are horrible and the song is crap. The only time I've ever listened to it and liked it was when she performed it live at #artRAVE.

I really dislike the message in the song though. She's still implying that she needs Dope, or needed it. I'm anti-drug use. So it just doesn't click with me. Plus she had the absolutely FLAWLESS I Wanna Be With You and blatantly RUINED and DESTROYED it at the last minute for no good reason. Such a disaster.Quote:

And it's a certified top 10 smash (streaming) hit, remember. |
Its Top 10 placing is embarrassing, tbh.

 | But that's the reason it's so beautiful. Apparently, she needed dope so bad at one point, that it became the standard of "need" for her. So to say that she needs a person - most likely Taylor - more than the thing she needs (or needed) the most is extremely profound.

At the time I thought the Swine performance was a mess, but after it sank in for a few hours I realized it was genius. And I LOVE the interview she gave at the keynote the next day.

But so much of the rest of her SXSW set worried me, she seemed like such a mess for some reason.
That stuff, and

Really though, what's with all this shaming in this thread tonight? I think we can all agree that while all five of her albums have their strengths and weaknesses, they all make up a very, very strong discography.   |

 | Nah, I started liking her during Born To Be The Second Highest-Selling Album Of The Decade, but I do like The Fame Monster. The Phlegm is trash, though. Only 'Paparazzi' is good on that "album".

What bothers me the most about it all, though, is the overrating of both albums.  |

I honestly couldn't put songs like Money Honey and Starstruck below songs like Bad Kids and Black Jesus. They're equally as bad, just in different ways.
Still, the albums' highs (TF singles, MTN/TEOG/Y&I) make up for the lows

The only bad song on ARTPOP is J&D, which is a mess and the lowlight of Gaga's discography. Other than that, ARTPOP is as consistent as it gets for a pop album, imo. No extremes

How about no? Everyone should be allowed to have their opinions. I prefer The Fame, The Fame Monster and Born This Way to ARTPOP. Simple as that. I'm not clinging onto that, but it's not like I'm just going to stop liking it because she has newer music... I just hope that she can deliver something more different that's more to my taste, where ARTPOP was very hit or miss for me. That's all. The Fame and her other albums were a definite HIT.Quote:

But it comes from a dark place in her life. She's saying that she was in a dark place where she needed dope and was addicted to it, she was numbing herself with it, and it all ended up crashing down and making her hit rock bottom.....where she had the realization that it was her loved ones (most likely Taylor) that she really needed, not dope.
I think its beautiful because its about the struggles of addiction that so many people face, and it came from a really dark and personal place that was brave of her to go to. She's not glorifying drug addiction, she's condemning it and saying she doesn't need it like she thought she did.  |
